Help Someone Maintain Their Independence at Home
Are you an experienced, compassionate Care Assistant looking for a rewarding one-to-one role supporting someone with complex physical care needs?
At HFH Healthcare, we're looking for reliable and attentive Complex Care Assistants to support an elderly gentleman living with a high-level spinal cord injury in his own home in the NW9 area.
Our client lives with his wife and requires dedicated support with his daily routines, mobility and specialist care needs.
We're looking for someone who is gentle, patient and observant, understands the importance of dignity and privacy, and can provide professional care within a family home.
This is an opportunity to build a trusting working relationship while helping someone remain safe, comfortable and supported in familiar surroundings.
About the Role
You'll provide dedicated, one-to-one care as part of a regular care team, supporting our client's comfort, wellbeing and everyday needs.
This is not a domiciliary care role. You'll work with one client per shift, rather than travelling between multiple homes.
We have day and night shifts available, with full-time and part-time opportunities.
A minimum commitment of 24 hours per week is required.
Your Responsibilities
Supporting personal care, hygiene and daily routines.
Assisting with safe moving, handling and positioning.
Supporting the use of an abdominal binder in accordance with the care plan.
Providing catheter care, including prescribed catheter flushes where trained and competent.
Recognising and responding appropriately to signs of autonomic dysreflexia.
Monitoring comfort, skin integrity and general wellbeing.
Maintaining accurate care records and reporting concerns.
Respecting the client's dignity, preferences and family home.
All specialist interventions must be carried out in line with the individual care plan, appropriate training and assessed competencies.
What We're Looking For
At least 6 months' previous care experience – essential.
Availability for a minimum of 24 hours per week – essential.
A compassionate, patient and respectful approach.
Confidence assisting with personal care and manual handling.
Good communication skills and strong attention to detail.
Reliability and the ability to work independently within a care team.
Experience supporting spinal cord injuries or complex physical care needs is desirable.
Knowledge of catheter care and autonomic dysreflexia would be an advantage.
A genuine commitment to promoting dignity, comfort and person-centred care.
The ideal carer will be calm, observant and respectful, understanding the importance of providing safe care while maintaining a comfortable home environment.
